The Journey
Cardboard
19″ X 66″ X 13″

This sculpture was done in 1985 as part of a graduation thesis for a BA at University of San Diego California. Funded by U. S. Grants, hundreds of pounds of cardboard were glued together into solid blocks and then carved out with different sized chainsaws. After the sculptures were complete a truck came in to haul away the leftover cardboard and knocked over a fence surrounding the Visual Arts department outdoor work space, The department received serious complaints from the University and was not too happy but ultimately knew it was their responsibility! Two of the cardboard sculptures produced at that time were displayed at the Mandeville East Room Gallery and now only one remains intact.
