Clarence Clemons The Big Man
Vinyl (Top album Clarence Clemons and the Red Bank Rockers, “Rescue”, and bottom album Clarence Clemons “Hero”)
14” X 21”
This sculpture was created by using a very hot heat gun for peeling paint to stretch and mold two record albums by Clarence Clemons.
I first heard Clarence play live at a ceremony for the Sri Chinmoy Oneness Home Peace Run in New York. While he played I actually felt the purest of heart energy he put into playing his saxophone inside my own heart. I was quite surprised and delighted by the experience. I had rarely had this heartfelt experience listening to other musicians, except for Sri Chinmoy. At one of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s performances in San Diego, I was invited backstage to meditate with Clarence after the concert. He truly was a deep spiritual guy.
Regrettably, I always wanted to give this sculpture to Clarence Clemons but never had the chance.
